In-Person Exams
Walk-in or Pre-registration
In some exams you have to pre-register and in other, special exams held at conventions, there are Walk-ins allowed. For all of our exams a FFC Registration Number (FRN) is required. So the first step is to register on the FCC Web site with your US postal address. See section FCC Registration.
Exam Day
Please bring following items with you:
- A photo identification card like a passport or a driver license is necessary (please with a photocopy).
- A filled out Quick-Form 605 (filled out with Adobe Acrobat Reader) is helfull.
- For each exam session you have to pay 15 US$. If you failed you have to pay again 15 US$ if you will do a second try.
- A pen, pencil, rubber, blank papers and a calculator.
While the Exam
A exam for a Technical or General Class will take app. 45 minutes and for the Extra Class you will need an hour. But notice there is no time limit for a license exam only for the whole exam session.
If you are using any blank sheets for calculations etc. you have to write the name and the FRN on top of the sheet. You have to hand in these scratch sheets together with the your answer sheet. You can use a non-programmable scientific electronic calculator with memories. You have to clear the memories before the exam starts.
If you passed and finished you will get a CSCE-Form as a confirmation. After app. 10 days the license should be available in the ULS of the FCC.
